From First Call To Pack-Down
Tell us your date, guest count and the kind of event. We send an itemised quote within 24 hours — menu, service style, staffing, equipment and any delivery charge, each listed separately.
If it suits, we arrange a tasting. Once you are happy we lock the menu, agree a run sheet with you or your venue coordinator, and confirm final numbers about a week out.
On the day our team arrives early, sets up, serves to the agreed schedule, then packs down and cleans the catering area before leaving.
Melbourne-Wide, From Our South Kingsville Kitchen
Our production kitchen is in South Kingsville and our vans go everywhere — the inner west, the CBD, the bayside suburbs, the north and the outer west. Any delivery charge is quoted up front, never added later.
South Kingsville · Williamstown · Newport · Yarraville · Altona North · Point Cook · Hoppers Crossing · Tarneit · West Footscray
We have catered Melbourne events since 2013, working from a commercial kitchen in South Kingsville. The inner west is our home ground, covering Williamstown, Yarraville, Newport, Altona North, Footscray and West Footscray with short transport times. We travel regularly to Point Cook, Werribee, Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit, Truganina and Wyndham Vale in the outer west, north to Keilor East, Sunshine, Fawkner and Craigieburn, and south-east to Dandenong and Springvale. Melbourne CBD venues are frequent work too. Our three venues sit in Keilor East, Fawkner and Melbourne for clients who still need a location.
Catering With Tandoori Flames — Your Questions Answered
A catering company. Tandoori Flames cooks from a dedicated production kitchen in South Kingsville and our team travels to your venue, home or one of our three event spaces. We are not a venue with a kitchen attached.
Weddings, engagements, corporate functions, birthdays and milestones, baby showers, cultural and religious ceremonies, galas, funerals and community events — from 15 guests to 500-plus.
Eight: Indian, Sri Lankan, Middle Eastern, Vietnamese, Greek, Italian, African and Samoan/Pacific Islander. All from one kitchen, which is what makes mixed menus work.
Yes, three — Ultima Function Centre in Keilor East, Fleur Weddings & Events in Fawkner, and Amora. All catered in-house by our own team. We also cater at any venue you choose.
All of greater Melbourne. Our kitchen is in South Kingsville, so the inner west, bayside and outer west are home ground, and we travel to the CBD, north and south-east regularly.
It depends on guest numbers, menu selection, service style and any staffing or equipment. Drop-off is the most affordable; full plated service is the most expensive. Every quote is itemised so you can see each component.
Within 24 hours of enquiry, and usually sooner during business hours. There is no deposit and no obligation to enquire.
Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free are built into every menu as standard. Halal-certified meat is available on request and we confirm certification in writing.
Two to three months for weddings and events over 150 guests. Smaller events can often be arranged in a week or two. November to March and December book out earliest.
Yes, and a large share of our private work is in homes and backyards. We only need to know about kitchen access, power and parking.
Yes — chefs, wait staff, chafing dishes, crockery and cutlery. Drop-off is also available if you would rather run service yourself.
More than 850 since 2013, from 15-person family lunches to 500-plus guest weddings.
Tandoori Flames is a Melbourne catering company specialising in Indian and multicultural menus for weddings, corporate functions and private events. We cook from our own kitchen in South Kingsville and have operated since 2013. We also own and run three event venues: Ultima Function Centre, Fleur Weddings & Events and Amora.
We are a caterer, not a restaurant. There is no public venue to visit for a meal. We cook in a commercial kitchen in South Kingsville and bring food, equipment and service staff to your event, whether that is a venue, a hall, a park or a private home across Melbourne.
Yes, we own and operate three Melbourne event venues. Ultima Function Centre in Keilor East has eight event spaces and holds up to 800 guests. Fleur Weddings & Events in Fawkner is a single-room reception for up to 400. Amora in Melbourne provides a hotel-grade setting. All three can be catered by us directly.
Since 2013. We started with Indian catering for weddings and community functions in Melbourne’s inner west and expanded into eight cuisines and three venues from there. The kitchen is still based in South Kingsville, and the majority of our work remains weddings and large cultural functions.
Weddings and receptions, engagements, corporate lunches and end-of-year functions, conference catering, birthdays and anniversaries, temple and festival functions, naming ceremonies, and funerals or prayer meetings. Guest counts run from around 30 at a home function up to 800 at Ultima Function Centre in Keilor East.
Send us four things: your date, your venue or suburb, your approximate guest count and the type of event. That is enough for us to come back with a menu proposal and pricing. If you also have dietary numbers or a cuisine preference, include them and the first proposal will land much closer to what you want.
We are a caterer, not a restaurant. Everything we own exists to serve food at your venue: a commercial kitchen in South Kingsville, transport and holding equipment, live station gear, and chefs and service staff who work events rather than a service floor. We also operate three event venues of our own, which you can book with catering included.
Since 2013. That is over a decade catering Indian, multicultural and cultural functions across Melbourne, through weddings, temple events, corporate functions and family gatherings. In that time we have also taken on three event venues: Ultima Function Centre in Keilor East, Fleur Weddings & Events in Fawkner, and Amora in Melbourne. The experience mostly shows in logistics rather than in recipes.
No. Most of our catering work happens at venues we do not own, at private homes, parks, temples, community halls and corporate sites. Our own three venues are an option if you have not booked a location yet, and they make the logistics simpler because the kitchen and access are already known to us. But catering stands on its own.
Indian is our core, particularly Punjabi and North Indian, and it is what most clients come to us for. We also cook South Indian, Indo-Chinese, Sri Lankan, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Italian and modern Australian menus, each rostered to chefs who specialise in them. If a cuisine is outside what we deliver well at your guest count, we will say so rather than attempt it.
Yes, and it is more common than people expect. Vegetarian, vegan, Jain, satvik, halal, gluten-free and nut-free all sit within normal work for us. The key is counts rather than notes: we need numbers per requirement so we know how much to cook and how to separate it. Give us those and the labelling takes care of the rest.
Send us your date, venue, approximate guest count and any dietary requirements, and tell us whether you want delivery and setup only or full on-site staffing. From that we can put together a menu and a quote. The more accurate the guest range and the venue details, the more accurate the quote. A tasting can be arranged for larger functions.
Melbourne Caterers With Our Own Kitchen And Venues
Tandoori Flames is a Melbourne catering company. We cook Indian and multicultural menus out of our own kitchen in South Kingsville and bring them to weddings, corporate functions and private events across the city. We have been doing it since 2013. We also own and operate three event venues, so if you need the room as well as the food, you can get both from one business and one point of contact.
What we do, plainly: full-service catering from around 30 guests up to 800. Indian is our flagship, with a working tandoor, deep curry and biryani menus and breads cooked on site. Alongside that we cook seven other cuisines, which is why mixed-culture weddings make up so much of our work. Vegetarian, vegan, halal, Jain and satvik requirements are standing capability, not special requests. We handle staff, equipment, setup and pack-down.

Our own kitchen, our own staff
Everything is cooked in our South Kingsville kitchen by our own team and served by our own staff. No subcontracting the food out and hoping it arrives on time. One business is accountable for what reaches the buffet and when it gets there.
Three venues we actually run
Ultima Function Centre in Keilor East has eight event spaces and seats up to 800. Fleur Weddings & Events in Fawkner is a single-room reception for up to 400. Amora in Melbourne offers a hotel-grade setting. Food and venue, sorted together.
Eight cuisines, one supplier
Indian plus Sri Lankan, Greek, Italian, Middle Eastern, Vietnamese, African and Samoan. Mixed guest lists are the norm in Melbourne, and feeding both sides properly from one kitchen is simpler than coordinating two catering companies.
What We Are Known For Cooking
A snapshot of the dishes that appear most often across our Melbourne events, drawn from a menu that runs considerably deeper than this.
Signature Entrees
Veggie Samosa, Chicken 65, Chilly Paneer, Amritsari Fish, Onion Bhaji
Tandoor Favourites
Chicken Tikka, Paneer Tikka, Tandoori Lamb Chops, Tandoori Prawns, Seekh Kebab
Signature Mains
Butter Chicken, Dal Makhani, Lamb Rogan Josh, Paneer Butter Masala, Chicken Biryani
Breads and Desserts
Garlic Naan, Cheese Naan, Gulab Jamun, Mango Kulfi, Sizzling Chocolate Brownie
A starting point, not a fixed list. Swap any dish at no extra charge — the menu is built around your guest list, your budget and the dietary needs in the room.
How Working With Us Actually Looks
You tell us the date, the venue, roughly how many guests and what kind of event it is. We come back with a menu proposal built around that, not a generic package list. If you have not chosen a venue, we will show you ours and tell you honestly whether the one you are considering elsewhere will work for the service style you want. A deposit holds the date. Menus can keep moving until about three weeks out, when we lock numbers, dietary counts and the run sheet in writing.
On the day our team arrives early with food, chafers, serving gear and whatever the venue does not provide. We set the line, run service to the agreed times, adjust when the schedule slips, then clear our equipment and leave the space clean. We cater across metropolitan Melbourne with the inner west as our home patch, including Williamstown, Yarraville, Newport, Point Cook, Altona North, Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit, West Footscray and the CBD. Private homes, halls, parks and marquee sites are all routine for us.
Where To Start Depending On What You Are Planning
A quick orientation to what we do, so you can go straight to the part of the service that matches your event.
| If you are planning | What usually fits | Where to look next |
|---|---|---|
| A wedding or large reception | Full on-site catering with chefs, service staff and live stations | Indian catering and our event venues |
| A mixed-background family event | Two cuisines on one service line with full labelling | Multicultural catering |
| A temple, festival or religious function | Jain, satvik or halal menus with separated preparation | Cultural and religious event catering |
| A workplace lunch or corporate function | Drop-off buffet or roaming canapes inside a tight window | Cuisines we cater |
| A function with no venue booked yet | One of our three venues with catering included | Ultima, Fleur or Amora |
| A memorial or prayer gathering | Simple vegetarian catering, often at short notice | Contact us directly |
Four Decisions That Shape Your Whole Event
Booking the venue before the catering
Many hosts lock a venue, then discover it bans external caterers, forbids open flame or has no kitchen access. That rules out live stations and limits the menu before planning begins. Ask the venue about external catering, power and bump-in access before you sign. If the catering matters to you, it should influence the venue choice, not follow it.
Choosing service style by budget alone
Buffet and plated service are not simply cheaper and dearer versions of each other. They suit different events. A buffet gives variety and suits large mixed guest lists; plated service suits formal sittings with a tight program. Pick the one that matches how your event actually runs, then shape the menu to it rather than the other way around.
Leaving guest count vague for too long
A guest count that stays uncertain until the final fortnight restricts everything downstream, from sourcing to staffing to equipment. We can work from a range, which is normal, but the range needs to be realistic. An inflated number costs you in food; an optimistic low one leaves a queue and empty chafing dishes.
Not telling the caterer the real timeline
Hosts share the menu in detail and the run sheet not at all. The timeline is what determines when we cook, when we arrive and how we hold food. Ceremonies, speeches and performances all push service later. Send us the actual program with the service window marked, and name the person who decides on the night.
